Umigo Fundraiser: A SUCCESS!!!!

It's a small sign but it made around $1,900 dollars!
Thank you everyone for your hard work!

The Umigo fundraiser Walkers for Knockers hosted Sunday was a huge success.  Here we are just setting up the wine tasting area.  This is a sampling of wine we had.  There were many more bottles stored in the staff room.

Dustin was a real sport.  He hung stuff from the ceiling and blew up balloons until he was red in the face.  He did a terrific job and we really appreciate all he did to make it a festive occasion.

The baskets we raffled off were wonderful.  Lots of imagination and hard work went into creating them. We definitely have a creative team.  Umigo was nice enough to also add a gift basket for our raffle.

Here are some samples of the baskets that were created.

I thought Nancy really went all out for the gardening basket.  It turned out not to be a basket but a cute little cart with all her potting and planting goodies inside.  It made a fantastic centerpiece for the raffle.

I think the Starbucks Coffee basket was the most popular.  Eyes would light up when people would first see it.  It definitely had a lot of tickets in the jar so the competition was fierce.

Not only did people enjoy the wine tasting but they spent lots of time on the track racing the carts.

I personally enjoyed interacting with the various people who came.  They were a very nice group who were serious about helping us raise money for cancer research.

The Walkers for Knockers team would like to thank:

Umigo of Livermore, for the use of their premises, the beautiful basket they made for us to raffle off, advertising our event and donating a portion of their ticket sales Sunday to our team.

Checkers Catering of Livermore for donating the food and setting up such a beautiful display.

Elliston Winery of Sunol for their generous donation of a variety of wines for our raffle and tasters.

Thumbprint Wine Cellers of Healdsburg for their generous donation of a variety of wine.

Starbucks for the wonderful donation of coffee for our event.

Sal and Lee Gurule for their donation of a wonderful coffee basket for our raffle.

Lori Pavich for her wonderful donation of the African basket which we raffled off.

Without the combined help of the team members who volunteered their Sunday night and local businesses we wouldn't have had such a successful fundraiser.

Thank you so much everyone, we're all very proud of the money we raised for the American Cancer Society.

Remember the fundraising has definitely not stopped.  So if you're reading this and want to donate, we would love your support!

Wanted: Pretty Purple Potty!!!!

DESCRIPTION:

HEIGHT:  30"
WEIGHT:  Refused to be weighed
RACE:  Kohler
SCARS:
Upper L Tank
Front L Lid
Lower Front Base

Pretty Purple Potty is described as a 30 inch tall purple toilet (yes, a toilet) wearing painted flowers and "Walkers for Knockers," and "Relay for Life" lettering.  'Potty', is considered armed (with a sign) but not dangerous.

After raising over $700 in funds for the American Cancer Society's San Ramon Relay for Life, PPP has been charged with "Stinking Up the Neighborhood" and "Blackmail."

Purple Potty was last seen in Contra Costa County and is believed to be on the lam.  PPP has been seen traveling from safe house to safe house throughout the Tri- Valley area.  Sources confirm that Potty is still raising funds (under the assumed name of Purple) for the Walkers For Knockers team.  Local officials have no interest in pursuing the charges from Contra Costa County but to play it safe, we believe keeping on the move is the best defense.

If you have seen the Pretty Purple Potty, please leave a comment on today's post and email:
UPDATE:  We believe PPP was last seen at the home of Vickie in Livermore.  This is the last picture taken of Potty.  As you can see, it's been roughed up a bit more.  Information on the street indicates it's looking for a back alley painter to aid in removing it's scars.

More information to follow as we receive it.

Hiding out at Pam's house.....

PPP is hiding in plain sight.  It's starting to look a little worse for wear.  Where'd the scratches on the base, seat and tank come from?  I'm thinking it sustained the injuries while fleeing from the cops in Danville.  Poor Potty.  Ailing, hurt and yet still making money.

How about a little touch up Sarah?  I think Potty deserves a mini face lift for doing such a terrific job supporting the American Cancer Society.

I might be a majority of one who finds this funny.  The person who sent PPP is named Jerry.  She never had it displayed at her house.  Instead, she skipped having the PPP resting on her front lawn and paid to have it sent directly to her daughter Pam.  Now that's what I call a loving mom!

Thanks Pam and Jerry for being such great sports.  Most of all, for your support!!!

Pretty Purple Potty Arrested.......

...Almost!  We have heard reports that the Pretty Purple Potty has been charged in Contra Costa County with, "Stinking Up the Neighborhood" and "Blackmail!"  Our insiders have found out the police have been notified of the allegations against the Pretty Purple Potty.  Of course,  'Potty' is innocent until proven guilty of these charges.  Sources within the circle of the PPP tell us Potty denies these allegations and says it was sent legitimately by a paid benefactor to the location in question.

We believe 'Potty' may have skipped town and is hiding in another county.   Our sources on the street have indicated it's possible it's in Alameda County.   You are encouraged to leave comments under today's story if you have seen the Pretty Purple Potty or email WalkersforKnockers2010@yahoo.com for further information.

We will continue with live updates on this important issue.  Although we do not encourage lawlessness, we stick by PPP's innocence and feel keeping it on the lam is the best method of avoiding arrest by the Danville Police Department.

Doug & Cindy.....

Cindy and Doug are the Chairpersons for the San Ramon Relay for Life chapter.  They're terrific sports and gave us a morale boost with their encouragement of our purple toilet fundraiser.

Here are their two adorable little boys enjoying a moment in the sun with our Pretty Purple Potty.

We'd like to thank Cindy & Doug for the kind supportive words but most of all, their donation.  We're not in first place yet but we are certainly working hard to get there.

Remember, you can still donate to our team at:

Umigo Fundraiser & Marge.....

Things have been a bit quiet lately, so I thought I'd introduce you to Marge and her son Sean.  Marge has been working tirelessly with Brittany and Sarah on our fundraisers.  She doesn't get much credit because she's so quiet, so I thought I'd recognize her here in the blog.

Right now she's helping organize the fundraiser at Umigo in Livermore on May 16th.  They're nice enough to give us a portion of the proceeds from their Kart racing rentals for the day.

Tickets are only $20 per person and kids are FREE.

The day will include:

  • Free food (graciously donated by Checker Catering)
  • Free wine tasting
  • Live music
  • A fun arcade
  • A bounce house for the kids.
  • A chance to wind some great raffle prizes including some gift baskets worth over $200.

For tickets you can contact me at dwgnldy@yahoo.com (put fundraiser tickets in the subject line) or shoot an email to walkersforknockers2010@yahoo.com and either Sarah or Brittany will make sure you they call you.

If you can't make the fundraiser, remember you can still donate directly to our team or a member at:

Picture Time!!!!

Well, our beautiful little toilet has been busy again.  It's a fantastic fundraising idea that has proven not only to be profitable but is putting a smile on the faces of the wonderful people who have hosted it.
Denise was kind enough to display the PPP for us and donate to our team.  Way to go!  We value your support.
Loisel was also a great sport and contributed to the team and happily sent the toilet on to another house for display.  Looks like Sarah matched the little flowers on the toilet to Loisel's house.
We can't forget how great Ken and Michelle were about our little gift.  You guys are wonderful and your donation is going to a fantastic cause.

I'd like to thank everyone to date that has helped keep the toilet visiting new homes.  You're participation in this fundraiser is what is making it such a huge success.

Remember, if you haven't had the toilet or aren't going to have it but would like to contribute to our team, we'll be happy to put your donation to good use and fight cancer will all our power.

Also, if you'd like to have the toilet displayed at your home or business for a day, contact Sarah at walkersforknockers2010@yahoo.com.  She'll be very happy to put you on the list for displaying this beautiful purple piece of art!
